KORE, a subsidiary of SDL, invited to attend the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum

2026-03-31

On March 28, the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum — High-end Instrument Innovation and Development Summit was successfully held in Beijing. Hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and undertaken by the Institute of Industrial Measurement & Control Technology & Economy, the event pooled consensus and strength for the high-quality development of the high-end instrument and meter industry in the inaugural year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

Stephen Mullock, General Manager of Kore Technology, a subsidiary of SDL, attended the forum as an invited guest and took part in the summit dialogue. Centering on the iteration, innovation and model transformation of high-end instruments during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, he exchanged views with experts and scholars from industrial development, technological R&D, policy research and other fields on technological breakthroughs, industrial upgrading and ecosystem development of high-end instruments and meters.

Dr. Mullock introduced that KORE has long provided customized mass spectrometry technical solutions for research teams worldwide in environmental science, materials science and other fields. KORE consistently advances technological innovation and iterative optimization based on real application scenarios and practical testing objectives.

Through in-depth cooperation with SDL, the two parties have realized an accurate alignment between market demands and technical capabilities. Catering to the demand for on-site rapid testing in China, they launched the Proton Transfer Reaction Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (PTR-TOFMS) for the monitoring and analysis of atmospheric volatile organic compounds. This device supports vehicle-mounted on-site rapid patrol inspection, and the two sides have accumulated valuable experience in standardized product development and industrial promotion. Currently, driven by the rapid growth of emerging industries in China including semiconductors, new energy and life sciences, KORE and SDL are further deepening their partnership to accelerate the market launch of the Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer (TOF-SIMS) for material surface analysis.

The Proton Transfer Reaction Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (PTR-TOFMS) is an emerging technology that integrates a proton transfer ion source with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. It enables online detection of trace volatile organic compounds (VOCs/SVOCs), and can complete qualitative and quantitative analysis of VOCs/SVOCs at the pptv level within seconds. It features fast response, no need for sample pre-treatment, high sensitivity and low detection limit.
